The Final Stand of Atreides

The desert is a strange place, especially the desert of Plantor. The planet’s sand carried a specific particle that made blaster fire close to impossible to have it leave the chamber. This left the planet in an odd state as the Republic and Separatist forces both fought for its resources. The Republic formed a specific platoon to combat the enemy forces, which were composed entirely of Commando Droids. Said platoon was now stationed at a vital outpost to get information out of the planet.

Walking around the base the troopers all had shorter vibroblades attached to their belts, these troopers being among the best hand to hand fighters in the entire Republic. All the troopers had dark green shoulder pads, dark green vambraces and shin guards, along with the top half of their chest plate the same color. A golden eagle lay spread across their chest, a symbol to those they fight. Their helmets had a green dome with a gold fin down the middle, and cloaks were worn around their helmets and shoulders.

As the sun descended, the troops all assembled in the courtyard, their banners waving with the winds of the desert. Their Captain addressed the soldiers, and told them of their importance with holding this outpost from Separatist attacks. Soon after he finished, a rocket hit their outer wall and shook the entire base. The troops all drew their weapons and formed a line, their captain heading to the front to stand with his soldiers. The first commando droid stepped through, then more followed suit.

“Atreides!” the captain yelled as he lifted his blade into the air. The troops behind him all did the same, lifting their blades into the air and chanting the name of their Platoon. “Let’s send them back to the scrap heap!” The troopers charged, and the droids did as well. Both sides clashed in the middle, and the battle for the Communications Outpost was started.

As the sun rose, the base that was formerly filled with clone troopers now lay a bloodied battlefield. The bodies of clones and droids both lay on the ground, although the body count of droids outweighed the body count of the clones. Although the clones put up a good fight, they were no match for the numbers provided by the droids. The clone army was able to get a signal out saying that the outpost had fallen, and the command center was where the final members of Atreides Platoon made their final stand. The beacon was lit, and Republic forces would arrive a few days later with their weapons adjusted for the planet’s surface, but they would stumble upon the mass grave of Atreides Platoon.
